Polka Dots //

 I decided to put on these purple polka pants from American Eagle I had gotten last fall! I'm not really sure why I haven't worn them, because they're so cute and springy! Well, today was my last day of classes for the semester and I have 2 exams next week! It's crazy how fast time flies.. I'm excited to go home for the summer, but I'm going to miss all my friends I've met at school!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

Summer, is that you?

Well, it's finally starting to look a little like summer out there... At least yesterday it did. Haha I guess that's what I get for living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But, i'm not going to complain, it is so beautiful here, I seriously take for granted how amazing it is that I get to live in such an amazing place. Yesterday I went for a run along the shore and snapped this picture, can you say gorgeouuuussss?!

I am trying to slow down my life a little bit.. I've been realizing that life is way too short to be rushing every single day of my life.. My parent's friends little boy Brody passed away last week from a amazing fight against Glioblastoma, it breaks my heart for their whole family.. This also kind of helped me realize that even when I think I'm having a "bad" day.. things could be worse. I'm healthy, I get to go to college, my family is healthy.. that's all that matters. Remember that the next time you think you're day is "bad". My physiology teacher is also helping me come in tune with myself and our world. Through her amazing teaching, I am getting to not only learn about the amazing human body, and the wonderful things our tiny little bodies do every second/day, I am getting to learn great life lessons from this amazing woman. She has her PhD in Physiological sciences and her main focus was the effects on the brain from menopause. I plan on being an OB/GYN nurse, so this chapter learning about the female reproductive system has been very interesting to me and the fact that she has so much knowledge on this is very helpful! Our bodies are amazing! Don't forget to tell yourself that you are a beautiful human being..

I'm hoping to start posting more now that I will be done with school for the year.. crazy right!? This year flew by, I cant believe I will be applying to the nursing program in October! (fingers crossed I get in!!!!) I'm thinking about starting to do some outfit posts. I will probably only start out with 1 a week, but hey its something, right? Well, for all of you college kids like me, good luck with finals, and safe travels back home, or wherever you are headed for the summer!!

Pillow Thoughts..

Sometimes I wonder why life has to be so crazy. Why is it that one day we are happy as a can be and jumping for joy, yet the next we feel as if we have never been more down.

Yesterday I was extremely excited to come back to school and start this semester, knowing things would be much different since my best friend transferred to a school closer to her hometown. I was still excited, optimistic, and ready to take on this semester.

Today when I got here I started to get a little bored, gloomy, and just not really feeling it. I wish Syd was here and I could just run down to her room in the hall below me and we could talk for hours, but I know that I wont be able to anymore. I guess I just need to learn to accept change, and that is something I am horrible at.

If that's one thing I would tell you about if we met would be that I hate change. Another is, I've discovered I am ALOT more shy than I thought I was and college has definitely showed me that. Slowly I will learn to be more confident and willing to go out and be the first one to say something to someone, but for now I will stick to the few friends I have here.

Classes start tomorrow and I know I need to change my attitude again and get motivated, I know I will.. Tomorrow is a new day..

That's all for tonight.

xoxo

Allison

P.S-- for those of you starting classes as well, good luck and kick this semesters butt! ;)

|| 2014 || a new year *

2014 I am ready for you!

I am going to make this year one to remember. I want to start setting goals for myself, and sticking to them. I feel like 2013 was a slacker year for me, sort-of. I want to stay positive, do great in school, and stick to my goals. I follow casey from www.thewiegands.com and every year she picks a word and so I decided I would link-up and do the same. I want to try and post more often, and make my posts more full. I will be taking a website construction class and I am so excited to learn more about html..etc. and use it on my blog! This is one goal I would really like to fulfill. If anyone has any pointers on spicing up this silly little blog, PLEASE let me know :)

I would also like to do more, and not be so afraid. My whole life I have been afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone, and I think I got that from my mom. I'm not sure why, but as I get older, I am getting more shy. That is something I want to change!

I really hope this is a great, productive year!

Let me know what some of your goals are for this year, i would love to hear from you all! :)

xoxo

|| CHRISTMAS ||

I cannot believe how quick Christmas has come and gone! It was all so wonderful though.. i got to spend time with everyone i love and just relax, laugh and visit. My parents spoiled me once again, and i couldn't be more thankful. It's been very snowy here and i kind-of have a love/hate relationship with it. I see some people going on vacations and I'm not gonna lie.. I'm pretty jealous :)

I know I'm bad i only have a few pictures, but its gonna have to do for now!

I hope everyone had the best Christmas they could've dreamt of!

Thanks{giving}

What are you thankful for? This is normally the question that is popped once or twice during this time of the year. I am so blessed that I have so much to be thankful for, my health, amazing family, the best guy I could ask for, being able to go to school, a loving home to go back to when I get sick of the dorms, little letters my sister sends me to brighten my day, and my list could go on. I know during November people post little things on Facebook each day saying what they are thankful for, but does just putting a couple words really bring out your true thankfulness. I do not think so, go out there and show people you are thankful for them, do a good deed..that will show so much more than just posting a simple status on Facebook. I am so excited to be on break for Thanksgiving and to spend this great holiday with the amazing, loving people I have in my life. As I get older, I am starting to appreciate my family more than before. I used to be selfish and just think everyone has it like I do, but really some people don't have what I have, and I am so thankful for being this lucky to have wonderful people in my life.

Usually, for Thanksgiving my family doesn't really do "dinner", we normally do lunch. Just around half-time of the football game. I'm not really that much of a football fan, so I could care less. But my family on the other hand.....they are crazy about football, so we usually all eat in the dining room/kitchen while the game is on. Afterwards I head out with Parker to Grandma Eva's house for dinner. It is a big thing for her to have everyone out for dinner, and she loves bringing out her fine china for special occasions like this. I really am thankful to get to experience two thanksgivings that are totally different atmospheres, and I really enjoy both!

I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving and students/family driving home, be safe!!!

P.S: What are some of your family traditions that you do for thanksgiving, whether it be dishes or just traditions?

My love-hate relationship

The past four years of high school I ran on my varsity cross country team. We ran so many miles a week that we couldn't even keep track. I was in the best shape of my life, and I LOVED it, but I also HATED it. I'm sure all of you who are runners understand this feeling, but anyways onto my point.

I haven't ran since cross country last August and it has felt so weird.. I just quit cold turkey, and that was probably one of the worst decisions I've made, because now here I am like an 80 year old woman trying to get back into that tip top shape....not so easy..but I've started, Yesterday I ran/walked and today I did the same. I'm going to take an easy approach because I want to LOVE running again. I'm not the type who is driven by competition. I'm driven to run for myself, and to accomplish goals for myself.

I'd love to hear your stories as well :)

Oh, and I'm going on a hot date with my man tonight ;)
